TYPES OF GRANTS

  1. One-time “Issue-Awareness” grants (Greater Palm Beach area only)
  2. These grants range from $500 to $3,500 for programs in the greater Palm Beaches that are specifically designed to inform or activate the Jewish community, the general public and/or professionals about issues and best practices of importance for Jewish women and girls.

These funds can be used to: convene educational meetings to disseminate information on issues or research findings; educate professionals, Jewish girls and/or their parents about the particular challenges and needs of Jewish women and girls; and sponsor innovative community-wide events addressing these critical issues. Inter-organizational collaboration is encouraged.

The one-time “Issue-Awareness” grant application requires short statements describing the organization’s mission, the proposed activity, goals, “fit profile,” (how the proposed activity fits with the JWF vision/mission) and what constitutes success.

The one-time “Issue-Awareness“ grant application does not require submission of a Letter of Intent.

  3. Signature Grants that sustain the work of several organizations and seek to produce knowledge, cutting-edge programs and/or persuasive influence needed to change attitudes, policies and/or practices that adversely affect Jewish women and girls.
  4. These multi-year grants range from $35,000 to $50,000 annually. They are offered to increase the sustainability of an organization’s research, advocacy, service development and/or educational initiatives. They may be renewable for up to five years. The grant renewal process requires submission of a report that outlines the progress achieved and anticipated results for the coming year. While our intention is to fund signature projects for several consecutive years, funding in prior year(s) does not guarantee funding for the next year(s).

Signature grant proposals must focus on: advocacy initiatives for new legislation or public/institutional policies; and researching problems, including identifying the root causes that block women from fully participating in civil, familial, educational, spiritual, health care and social affairs. Cutting-edge projects using new protocols or strategies for treating ongoing social injustices will be given priority.

The signature grant applications require the submission of a Letter of Intent. (See Grant Application Information below) After submitting a Letter of Intent, applicants will be notified whether or not to submit a full grant proposal.

The Signature Grant application must contain a full description of organizational mission, how the particular intervention furthers the JWF’s goal of sponsoring social change, a detailed projection of anticipated outcomes (quantitative and qualitative measures), and a detailed evaluation proposal. Costs associated with the evaluation process may be included in the program/project budget.

Applicants for the Signature Grants are encouraged to call the JWF before submitting the Letter of Intent if there are any questions or for a preliminary discussion to determine the appropriateness of the grant request.

ESTABLISHING “THE FIT”

The Jewish Women’s Foundation (JWF) funds “bi-focally” through both a “gender lens” and a “Jewish value lens.”

We examine each proposal both on the merits of its fit between the specific project and JWF’s vision and priorities, and the extent to which your organization’s overall support of women and girls is compatible with our founding values and organizing principles.

Please take the time to carefully review our vision, mission, granting format and annual funding priorities, and our eligibility policy to determine if your organization, program, project or initiative meets the JWF’s criteria.

Call (561) 242-6604 if you have any questions regarding "the fit."
